My Mom!

This week my Mother Retired from her job of many years. She did not start this job until after I had already moved out of the house so I have a different feeling about this than my younger siblings. That is in no way to say that my mother did not work before this. She had 6 children over a 17 year span, ran Shaw's Carpet Cleaning during the day while raising these kids and we were not easy. I have had a lot of age related realism over the last couple of years and most of the time these have to do with understanding why my mom did what she did when she did it. There are 2 things I remember the most about my mom.
1. Your hair is whatever you want it to be but it should always look perfect before you leave the house.
2. (the one I listened to) You can do anything, Specifically involving crafts and projects. I feel like I can learn how to do anything. I have a garage full of different supplies to prove this. I also am able to accept when there are things I am not great at and can move on. I do not feel dependent on a man to do household repairs. If I see something I like I am likely to make it myself before buying it. Sometimes this has saved me money and sometimes it has cost me money but I have always learned a new tool for the future.
No one has ever met my mother and not liked her. She is the life of the party and likes to throw them too. She will even act out 7 geese a laying much to her own embarrassment.
I have one specific realism that hit me when my first son was born that you might find amusing. When I had my first son I was Breastfeeding and was leaking terribly, as I changed my bra pad (these are like diapers to absorb the extra milk) I had a flashback of being in elementary school and going through her dresser (I have no idea what I was looking for) and finding bra pads. I went to school the next day and told all of my friends that my mom stuffed her bra. What was I thinking! I had 3 younger siblings I had had to have seen her use these at some point but being a self absorbed child like most are I guess I never noticed. Enjoy the pictures of my mom and her hair. I know I have some better ones as well so those may get posted later.
